The Town of Smithtown was founded in by Richard Smith. This park lives near the north shore of Long Island and consists mostly of a nature preserve and offers space for recreation. Residents enjoy hiking, fishing, and cross-country skiing. Park visitors can also take advantage of a nature museum with wildlife displays alongside a nature trail. Also known as Governor Alfred E. Smith State Park, open year-round from sunrise to sunset. Sunken Meadow expands upon 3 miles of Long Island Sound beaches.

It also features a three-quarter-mile-long boardwalk and six beautiful miles of hiking trails. You are also permitted to horseback ride, bike, and enjoy water sports! For a more relaxing day, the park has playgrounds, softball and soccer fields. With 27 holes, a driving range, and putting green, it is impossible to not fall in love with the scenery while enjoying your favorite sport. The predominant ethnicities of the town are Italian Villages in the Town of Smithtown.
