MBRDI management is not very visionary. They mimic their higher ups but really don't have a fair understanding of technical stuff. Most of the Senior program managers and above have a very poor appetite of technical things. If you have joined at a good compensation then you are most likely to have no monetary growth for few years.
They say absolutely ridiculous things to deny you a hike. Its really funny. However this will lead to your "daimlerization", in other words you will be left unfit for the market. To summaries, It's a great brand and will give you a very lucrative offer "shikari ayega dana dalega" take it if you really don't have a choice. Work does not matter here much, just keep your boss happy and showcase as much as you can. Big brand name , pretty good office, you will have facilities like free food , snacks , dinner , 32 annual leaves except peace and work.
Company policies are friendly ,but Job security is not there for sure. Executive management are the draw back to the company seriously. They don't treat employees properly I donno whether they completed corporate etiquettes or not. E4's Way of speaking is horrible and employee treatment is bad. Though the company is incurring losses. Higher management E3,4's ,L5,T5 are not willing to sacrifice thei r free Mercedes GLC cars and their high expenses which company need to pay. Terrible politics to safe guard their postions.
Only few employees get what they want. Career growth no scope With irrespective of your skill and designation they ask you to do some miracles to save cost to company. The only miracle I suggest to company is first cutoff extra facilities to executive management and provide a proper training on how behave with common employees , because they are actual people working hard to keep Mercedes on top list of brands.
After stepping into this company my skillet changed , I was hired for one skill and they assigned another position. I struggled a bit in beginning and learnt everything on job. Work life is poor , its same case with Rd and IT. Mercedes-Benz Research and Development Reviews based on designations. The technical folks wouldn't be able to showcase any technical capabilities fully which was supposed to be gained out of experience working MBRDI, while they want to give interviews for a job change.
This is the reality. The HRs didn't bother to cut down these expenses during pandemic situation, instead they decided not to roll out hikes for most of the technical folks citing pandemic situation as the reason. In most of the cases travel wouldn't be necessary, but still it is approved without any proper justification.
For me the learning was very good, got to work on multiple technologies but this might lead to jack of all master of none situation. Free food is a big plus.
The visibility of the projects irrespective of the actual work gets you recognition and hike. Job Security for IT people are getting panic because of Taf but i would say that is not a big impact. I can give best rating about company policies, work culture. Since last 6 years I have been working with MBRDI, My observation E4 or L5 will have some set of people and their groom them and people without having god father like me it was nightdream for their career growth.
All my c ollogues and friends really got surprised. Since they know I'm eligible for the promotion but still I respect their feedback. I know my potential and I took self decision to nominated for the Taf and my manager immediately moved the coin. I worked Very Hard and make the people SAP system available for the business without any issues since from last 6 years without any issues.
I'm very proud. Work environment is average. There is no career growth, doing the same stuff from 2 years. There are no mentors or team leads with proper industry knowledge who can guide freshers. I was a fresher when I joined. There is no code or work review before deploying. This is mainly due to all team leads want to be a people managers but not technical experts. I didn't get opportunity to visit Germany and see the manufacturing plants but other team mates went many times and there is a clear favourism from management towards some people.
