Why is edge so slow

Each entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one space. For example: Note: — Before doing this please take the backup of the old hosts file somehwre in your PC.

If even after following these steps, Edge runs too slowly then you need to check if your network is working correctly or not. Automatically Detect Settings — OFF did the trick yesterday, and about 20 hours later it is still fixed. I did not try the other steps, because I saw no need risk undoing a good thing.

Browsers today do a whole lot more then just display web pages properly. Edge comes with three levels of privacy: Basic, Balanced and Strict. While the strict level blocks all the trackers, it could also break a few websites. This inability of the sites to load could ultimately lead to issues with the browser. Along the same lines, some users were also able to succeed after disabling the Secure DNS feature.

It will open the Privacy settings in the Edge browser. Select Balanced under Tracking protection. Verify if it can fix the Microsoft Edge slow performance issue or not. Setting up the most stringent level of privacy does spell out the most secure work environment, but sometimes, it might not be the best way forward.

Therefore, it is recommended to have a balanced approach in this regard. Microsoft has baked in a repair feature for some of its built-in apps, and Edge is among them. This feature checks for all the underlying issues related to that app and then rectifies them accordingly. If needed, it would also uninstall the app from your PC and then re-install it, all without any manual intervention from your end.

After the repair work is done, it is recommended to restart your PC. Keep in mind that doing so will reset all the startup and new tabs pages and remove the pinned tabs.

The combination of two commands will uninstall and then re-install the Edge Browser on your PC. Any behavior that is insulting, rude, vulgar, desecrating, or showing disrespect. Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I've tried both those fixes and it's still super slow loading. I'm starting to think it's just a 'bad' browser. This didn't do anything for me, but the browser has suddenly started taking ages to load a page. If I look at the bottom for activity, it shows that it's taking incredibly long times to connect to browser.

You know Anyhow, it seems that that's where my slowdown has originated, as I can open a new tab and paste a URL, and it takes upwards of seconds to stop loading browser. I gave it my best shot but Edge is just painfully slow.

I've tried all the 'speed up Edge' suggestions I could find but my testing was on the same desktop using the same version of the same extensions and Edge just cant compete.

After 4 hours of wasted effort trying to get Edge to be at least as fast as my current browser, my advice is to switch to Slim Jet I don't understand the issue here.

It's definitely Microsoft Edge related, as I have no issues with any other software or hardware. I have found closing Edge for a minute or so then restarting it helps. If you watch via Task Manager when you close Edge it takes a while for all the processes to close.
